CAMBRIDGE - prediction and result Labour gain
The Lib Dems hold the Parliamentary seat and have a majority of 1 on the council but Labour has revived strongly in 2011 and 2012 and should take control.
Arbury, the two seats in East Chesterton, King’s Hedges and Petersfield all look to go to Labour and they have also won the Abbey ward, which the Greens are defending, in 2011 and 2012 and in a by-election last year.
Labour may also win Queen Edith’s and Romsey, where a Cambridge socialist candidate took over 400 votes in 2012 but is not standing this time, from the Lib Dems and challenge in West Chesterton, while the Conservatives may win Trumpington.
The Lib Dems also lost Castle ward to an Independent in 2012, and may again, so it could be a very bad night for them here.
