The UK Respect Party

Respect was set up on 2004 as a left socialist and anti-war party and this has gained it some support among the Muslim community.

Apart from the success of George Galloway in the Bradford West by-election of March 2012 it has not had enough candidates to have a significant impact but has done reasonably well in Parliamentary and local elections in East London, Birmingham and Bradford.
The Socialist Workers’ Party, which initially gave it support, broke away in 2007 and stood as the Left Alternative but then abandoned elections entirely in 2010.
